Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, the Burmese American Community Institute and Adrian Orchards hosted a tree planting program March 19 at the Orchard Park addition, where 25 native trees were planted around two ponds by about 50 volunteers who braved a chilly spring morning.

The helpers included (top, from left) Justin Zaring from KIB, Elaine Faris and Aaron Adrian; (bottom) Girl Scout Troop 106 from Tindley Renaissance Academy, which is seen with KIB’s Maurice Reeves.

The event is one of nearly 40 that KIB participates in annually, the result being about 2,500 trees planted.

Tony Adrian, president of the neighborhood homeowners association, said this is first of three plantings for the community, which is located off Bluff Road and north of Epler Avenue, where Adrian Orchards’ fruit trees once thrived.
