SUBMITTED PHOTO Southport Elementary second-grader Eli Thompson honored the firefighters who died in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, by climbing 110 flights of stairs during a memorial stair climb Saturday in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Holding an American flag, Eli and his mom helped lead the climbers at Antioch College. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which supports families whose loved ones have died in the line of duty.
